Holywood F.C. 1st XI Player Profiles
Artie McAlea JOINT MANAGER
Gary McGarrity - JOINT MANAGER
THOMAS TRACEY GOALKEEPER AGE 31
Tommy has established himself as
the first team goalkeeper once again after a season with Park Lodge FC,
where he won player of the year for 2003 / 2004 season. Tommy had been a
product of the successful Holywood FC U18 team 1997 / 1998 before
representing Holywood FC 2nd XI and 1st XI, winning
division 3C with the 2nds. Despite having a good season last year, he has
returned home and has already shown why he is regarded as one of the best
in the local amateur game.
CONOR ‘Flossy’ McGEOWN DEFENDER
AGE 30
Youth team football saw Conor win medals for Lisburn Distillery U16s and
Holywood U18s before going on to captain the Bangor FC U18 team and play
regularly for Bangor FC reserves for a season. He returned to Holywood
FC 5 years ago and was a member of the 1999/2000 double winning team and
this season has saw him play a range of positions in the back line.
PAUL MOORE DEFENDER AGE 25
One of the youngest members of the squad Paul has recently broken into
the 1st XI after captaining Holywood U18s two seasons ago. Paul is definitely
one the most promising prospects the club has had for a long time and
has the potential to emulate our most famous Holywood FC “old boy”
Gary Smyth who has played Irish League football for the last ten years.
Another ‘quiet man’ of the team!
GERARD MULHOLLAND MIDFIELD AGE 30
Another ex-Knockbreda Parish FC player, he played there for 2 seasons
and won a Division 1A title. Gerard is an ex-NI schoolboy, where he represented
his country at U14 and U16 level. As his levels of fitness have increased,
it is evident that Gerard is one of the most skilful players of the club
and has already adopted the ‘playmaker’ role in the middle
of the park. Winner of Holywood's Player of the Year season 03 /
04
EUNAN DONNELLY MIDFIELD AGE 24
Wee Onion is another
young whippet that has won numerous league and cup medals in youth
football with Holywood Boys, Aquinas and Holywood FC U18s. Eunan was
player of the year last year with the U18s and like Stevie Horan, he has
made the step up into 1st XI football admirably. Scorer of a
wonder goal in the first match of the season V Bryansburn Rangers (2004 /
2005 season), Onion has natural ability and is one to watch in forthcoming
years.
STEVIE HORAN MIDFIELD AGE 23
Stevie has made the big step this year from last
years 3rd XI, where he won a Down Area Division 1 winners medal
and runner up player of the year, to the 1st XI. He had a brief
spell with Lisburn Distillery in the summer of 2004 before deciding to
concentrate on his HFC career. Stevie is another product of youth football
at the wood and is one of the most exciting prospects the club has seen in
recent years.
