CONGRATULATIONS

The above shows our victorous Under 14's after their 2-1 victory over local rivals Tullycarnet, in the final of Ards Borough Youth Development League U14's KO Cup. The match was played in heavy conditions at Ards Rangers ground on 27 December. The players, management and support team deserve great credit for this achievement and we wish them and our other junior teams well for the remainder of their season'

Holywood FC Youth U 13s…1 v 3…Bryansburn Rangers

Bryansburn got off to a flying start and scored almost from their first attack in the 3rd minute and completely dominated the rest of the first half.  Holywood had no answer to their strength in attack and two more goals in quick succession before the break left Holywood 3-0 down.  The Holywood management made two changes at halftime bringing on Jack Brennan and Connor Hindmarsh.  This completely changed the balance of power as Holywood looked the better side for the entire second period.  Hindmarsh got past three Bryansburn defenders midway through the half to score.  This gave the home defence confidence and Bryansburn never looked like scoring again thanks mainly to some wonderful clearances by Brennan.  Unfortunately Holywood just couldn’t find the back of the net again either and they had to settle for a moral victory of winning the second half.

Holywood FC Youth U 13s…5 v 0…Groomsport

After Saturday’s defeat the Holywood boys were determined not to lose again on Wednesday evening and came out with all guns blazing.  Connor Hindmarsh scored two goals within a three-minute spell early on to settle nerves.  Groomsport fought hard but just could not break down the Holywood defence.  The game was effectively ended at the start of the second half when Matthew Sloan made it 3-0 for the young Greens.  Hindmarsh was upended in the box soon after but the referee allowed Holywood the advantage as Daniel Eastwood came steaming in to bury the ball in the back of the Groomsport net.  Hindmarsh earned the match ball or maybe just a packet of crisps with his hat trick in the last minute of the game to give Holywood a deserved 5-0 win.
